- INTRODUCTION
Faculty of Tourism Studies, School of Hospitality and Tourism – Hue University was formerly known as the Department of Tourism Studies – one of the first three departments established by Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism – Hue University (School of Hospitality and Tourism – Hue University today) according to Decision of President of Hue University on February 17th, 2008.
After more than 13 years of vigorous growth with many difficulties and challenges, Department of Tourism Studies has matured and grown continuously. At the end of November 2020, Faculties of Hospitality and Tourism was officially renamed School of Hospitality and Tourism according to Decision No.74/QĐ-ĐHH dated January 22, 2021 on functions, tasks, powers, organizational structure and operation of School of Hospitality and Tourism – Hue University. Accordingly, Department of Tourism Studies was renamed Faculty of Tourism Studies.
The Faculty currently has 18 staff members, including 01 Associate Professor, 03 Doctors, 03 PhD students, 09 Masters and 02 lecturers pursuing post-graduate programs in prestigious educational institutes in Vietnam and overseas . The staff members are experienced, enthusiast and well-qualified.
Faculty of Tourism Studies directly manages a training major – Tourism with nearly 400 full-time students studying at the Faculty. In the process of construction and development with many difficulties, Faculty of Tourism Studies has had remarkable achievements. The Faculty has actively participated in training and doing scientific researches in specialized fields, contributing to the development of the tourism industry in the Central – Central Highlands region and the whole country.

BACHELOR OF TOURISM
- Training objectives
1.1. General objective
To train bachelors in Tourism that have good political, ethical and health qualities; master the basic knowledge of economics, management and business administration; as well as specialized knowledge of travel service business and management; can meet the work requirements of tourism business companies in the context of international integration.
1.2. Specific objectives
About professional capacity:
To equips students with multiple capacities as follows:
– To master the basic knowledge of economics, management, business administration and humanities;
– To master the knowledge of tourism business management; sport, recreation and tourism management, and other types of tourism;
– To master the knowledge of Vietnamese culture, sustainable tourism development and management, tourism destination development and management.
– To have specialized knowledge of tourism resource management, governmental management in tourism, tourism information system management, understand statistical methods in tourism;
– To have skills in designing and operating tourism programs, planning skills for tourism development; project planning and management skills; teamwork skills; communication skills and the ability to understand tourist psychology…
– To have good communication skills and be fluent in at least one foreign language in communication and necessary commercial operations;
– To have independent research skills in the tourism and service business.
About work capacity:
Tourism graduates have good professional and work capacity, that can take up positions at provincial departments of tourism, state and local tourism management agencies; travel service business companies, travel management companies at heritage sites…; governmental and non-governmental organizations on tourism; lecturers, researchers in training institutions, research institutes on tourism.

The tourism major is trained according to The Regulation On Credit Training of the Ministry of Education and Training.
- Number of credits
The total number of credits of the program is 121.
- Enrollment
Complying with the Regulation on enrollment to the formal system of universities and colleges of the Ministry of Education and Training (Vietnam).

- Graduation requirements: Students accumulate at least 121 credits, of which the mandatory credits are 105 credits and the elective credits are at least 16 credits.

- Learning outcomes
8.1. Knowledge
CR1: Apply knowledge of Physical Education (certificate), National defence education (certificate), Marxist-Leninist principles, Revolutionary lines of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh’s ideology into career and life; Apply foreign language knowledge (B1 or equivalent) in communication.
CR2: Apply knowledge of social sciences, life sciences, natural sciences, state and law as a theoretical and practical foundation for the tourism major; Make good use of basic information technology and apply it in professional work.
CR3: Apply basic scientific knowledge such as related to economics, tourism, and business administration to serve as a theoretical and practical foundation for the tourism industry.
CR4: Master, deeply understand and know how to creatively apply specialized knowledge related to management in the field of tourism such as tourism resource management, state management on tourism, sustainable tourism management, understand and make good use in hotel business, restaurant business, travel business, and key and contemporary tourism types such as culinary tourism, festival tourism event…, apply knowledge of statistical methods to analyze experimental data.
CR5: Master, deeply understand, and know how to creatively apply complementary knowledge to the tourism major such as: tourism information system management, financial accounting, innovation and entrepreneurship; apply knowledge of scientific methodology in learning to improve qualifications, develop professional thinking, and manage professional work.
8.2. Skills
CR6: Able to synthesize, evaluate and analyze problems in the professional knowledge, being able to present and write clear and accurate reports; Have good skills in information gathering, analysis, and processing; Able to read, understand and write professional documents in English. And especially to be equipped with the necessary skills in handling situations in tourism business sectors such as hotels, restaurants, travel; regularly practice, train to constantly improve skills in using foreign languages and information technology.
CR7: Able to work independently as well as social communication for effective teamwork; regularly cultivate one of the most important soft skills of tourism major, which is problem-solving skill, situation handling skill that may arise during the professional practice in tourism business enterprises; communication skills in the workplace, knowledge disseminating and transferring skill; planning skill, organizational skill, management skill; start-up skill, skill of leading and creating jobs; improving planning skill and project development skill to implement different tasks and jobs of a tourism business company.
8.3. Attitude
CR8: Comply with the guidelines of the Party and State; have political characters, professional and ethical values, and good health; have a sense of responsibility, a sense of community, and a professional working style; honesty, openness, respect for colleagues and customers; Have the learning spirit, have a constant willllingness to improve knowledge and self-training.
CR9: Having a working method and scientific thinking, know how to solve problems arising in professional practice effectively; have a professional attitude and a cooperative spirit with colleagues and the social community; have a high responsibility in work, be ethical in business and economic activities in modern society; have progressive spirit, actively plan for career development, improve themselves to become a business in the future.
