Scientific research activities are among top priorities of the School of Hospitality and Tourism, Hue University and have always received special interest of the Tourism Faculty, especially for research funding, human resource and facilities.
Academic activities play a crucial role in improving the teaching quality of the School, as well as its reputation and ranking in national academia. Lecturers and students directly involve to research projects have more opportunities to sharpen their professional knowledge of tourism business, thus building up research capacity of the School of Hospitality and Tourism. Active academic works are also expected to bridge the gap between research findings and effective practical applications.
In addition, scientific research activities in the School of Hospitality and Tourism help promoting knowledge exchange among interns and students in Vietnam and abroad, especially whom are conducting research in tourism field.
Regarding human capacity for scientific work, currently the School of Hospitality and Tourism has a total of 118 employees, including 81 permanent staffs. There are 86 lecturers, in which 72.1% having postgraduate qualifications (including 03 associate professors, 6 Doctors, 55 Masters). In addition, there are a number of Faculty staffs currently pursuing higher education in advanced countries abroad in tourism related fields such as Tourism Economics, Tourism Management, Business Management in Tourism, E-Commerce, Tourism Geography, Marketing in Tourism, International Trade, Resource Economics and Environment, Tourism Psychology, Information Technology in Tourism …
With a highly qualified academic team, the School of Hospitality and Tourism is proud to provide excellent education services an scientific research in the field, satisfying the needs of students and travel businesses in Vietnam Central – Highlands.
Regarding research facilities, the School of Hospitality and Tourism- Hue University is located at a campus spreading over 3000 m2. There are two main buildings in the campus, including the Center of Practice and Partnerships with more than 20 practice studios, a well equipped Library with modern facilities. The second building consists of 13 classrooms and an administrative complex. In the Faculty Library, there are 2937 textbooks and 12,340 full-text reference documents available in a wide range of topics related to tourism field.
In terms of development direction in the period 2017-2022, scientific and technological activities of the Faculty of Tourism will focused on research projects that are highly applicable in the industry, in line with the strategic policy of building tourism industry to be the leading economic sector of Thua Thien Hue Province and Central – Highlands region.
