Regarding research achivements, until 2017, the staff of the School of Hospitality and Tourism has conducted 195 scientific projects at all levels with a total funding of more than 5.14 billion dong, including 18 ministerial-level and provincial-level projects; directly and coordinated implementation of 10 international cooperation research projects, 44 scientific research projects of students. (see attached list of projects and research projects at all levels).
In terms of research quality, the research works have been recognized as the majority of the assessment results were satisfied; some products of the past projects won various exhibitions; Many studies and projects related to tourism are bought and applied by corporates with highly positive feedback. Some outstanding research projects are as follows:
– Research projects funded by the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV) 2007-2008 have developed a database on the pro-poor tourism value chain, analyzing the demand for the tourism market along East West Economic Corridor and have been highly appreciated by partners. The recommended data has been conveyed through international conferences as a basis for analyzing product development of interested businesses as well as providing quality reference materials for teaching and learning.
– Provincial research project “Researching, piloting some community-based lagoon travel tours” (2009-2011) has developed 03 tours that are tailored with unique characteristics of Thua Thien Hue lagoon. The promoting videos of the beauty of Tam Giang lagoon has been transferred to the Provincial Department of Science and Technology and used by some travel agencies to run tours in the area.
– Other studies such as: “Assessing the tourists attractiveness on the East-West Economic Corridor – Vietnam”; “Design and construction of hotel information consultancy system in Hue city”; ” Research on sustainable heritage tourism in Thua Thien Hue”; “Developing charity travel tours in Hue city”; “Study on spiritual culture in festivals held at Hue temples for tourism development”; etc. are topics that are highly praised as they are responsive to the trend of tourism development of Hue province in particular and the Central – Central Highlands in general.
– Applied products: “Application of hotel information consultancy system in Hue city” was initially implemented for Faculty students to practice their subjects; “Digital resource – Library of the Faculty of Tourism” is used by the Library of the Faculty of Tourism for study and research work of students, graduate students and lecturers; “Online subject registration system” is used by the Unit of Education and Student Affairs for 2nd year students to register their majors; The “Weekly Task Schedule Application” is being tested and implemented within the Personnel and Administration Unit of the Faculty of Tourism.
– A number of scientific products have been displayed at several exhibitions of Hue University, Hue province and in the region such as: Exhibition of innovative products of students and young officials in 2013, Technology Fair and equipment of South Central – Highlands in Daknong province, Exhibition of Science and Technology Products in Hue University in May 2014, Science and Technology Fair – Workshop on Cooperation – Development of Information, technology and communication in Thua Thien Hue province.
The School of Hospitality and Tourism has achieved remarkable results including 03 third prizes, 02 consolation prizes and one product in the top 16 products of Hue University.
