In the field of international cooperation, the School of Hospitality and Tourism- Hue University has had a meeting with the representatives of Dublin Technology Institute (DIT) – Ireland on 03/03/2017.

Representatives of the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) included Professor Mary McNamara – Head of Postgraduate Education and Research and Ms. Andrea Ryan – International Cooperation Committee. The School of Hospitality and Tourism has Associate Professor. Dr. Bui Thi Tam – Dean of the School of Hospitality and Tourism, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Tran Huu Tuan – Deputy Head of the School of Hospitality and Tourism, Dr. Nguyen Duc Cuong – Head of Education and Student Affairs Unit together with other representatives of International Cooperation Unit and Education and Student Affairs Unit.

This workshop marked a significant step forward in the implementation of the memorandum of understanding between DIT and Hue University, developing cooperative programs and scholarships for teachers and students of the School of Hospitality and Tourism-Hue University to seek opportunities to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programs at the Dublin Institute of Technology.

Specifically, the two schools are in the process of negotiation to unify the bachelor training program of two schools, accordingly, students of Hue School of Hospitality and Tourism can continue to study to get a degree of the Dublin Institute of Technology in the form of 2 + 2 (2 years in Hue, 2 years in Dublin), or 1 + 3. Professor Mary McNamara also said that the Irish government is giving priority to this sector, thus interested gradutes can stay and work in Ireland for 2 years. This is indeed a good opportunity for Tourism students to gain international experience and increase their employment opportunities, especially in the ASEAN region. Representative of Tourism Department – Assoc. Prof. Bui Thi Tam affirmed the interest of the School of Hospitality and Tourismto the issues proposed by the Dublin Institute of Technology, and will include a priority action plan to speed up realization of cooperative programs with DIT.
