In the framework of diplomatic cooperation between Thua Thien Hue province and Gifu Prefecture (Japan) on “Joint Research intoTourism Promotion through the Utilization of Monuments& Cultural Assets”, during the period from 17 to 22 December 2018, Assoc. Prof.Dr.Tran Huu Tuan, Dean of the School of Hospitality and Tourism-Hue University (HAT-HU), joining in the Hue Working Group, visited Gifu Prefecture and Takayama City, Japan. The purpose of the trip is to exchange, survey and learn from the experiences of Takayama city and Gifu Prefecture about operating, managing and developing tourism based on cultural and historical heritage.
The members of Hue Working Group participating in this business trip include Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Deputy Director of Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism; Ms. Le Thi Thanh Binh, International Cooperation Department Head of Hue Monuments Conservation Centre and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Huu Tuan, Dean of HAT-HU.
Activities of the trip include(1) meeting with Gifu Working Group; (2) working with Gifu University and Seki School; (3) visiting and learning the scenery preservation methods used by the local old street preservation group in Takayama city and Shirakawa village; (4) exchange with Hida-TakayamaConservation and Tourism Bureau; (5) attending HuePR seminars hosted by Gifu – Vietnam Friendship Association andTakayama – Vietnam Friendship Association; (6) visiting markets selling local products in Gifu and Takayama; (7) experiencing various tourist activities such as Gujo dance, Tempura making…; (8) reporting the trip’s results to the Executive Director of Gifu International Affairs and Tourism Bureau and (9) discussing the action plan for cooperation activities in the next 3 years.
